great news from Tremont

Plain Press: The Community Newspaper Serving Cleveland's West Side Neighborhoods -- great article here about Sammy Catania providing new leadership at the Tremont nonprofit, news about reinvolving the neighbors, expanding wi-fi using local contractors, security cameras to enhance safety, branding with a logo that sounds attractive and cool, fostering transparency and communication, building out the community, strengthening the networks already there. This bears watching, perhaps emulating.

  2. Would Sammy be a good person to talk to in an MTB session? I don't know much about him.

  3. Are you asking me? Sure. But,don't be fooled by Tremont's slicker promotion. They are us with more young blood and more food options. Same underbelly. Probably more crime. I would need to get the figures. Certainly more car thefts. We definitely need a more visible and proactive board for our development corporation. But like I said. We have some not so closeted bigots on the other side who don't want to identify with US.

  4. I'm not so sure we need a development corporation in the first place--all we've done is protect ourselves against them these past 10-15 years--they know best, even though most of them don't live here. I don't see bigotry on the other side; I would probably say they're just not too aware, or overly sensitive.

  5. I am certainly not lumping everyone in the category, but there is little interest in creating a unified and defined geography to market ala Tremont. Maybe it is just wanting to preserve the OLD, which did not include diversity. I don't know. I do know communication shuts down pretty quick when there is talk of trying to create one big entity. Tremont was not able to do it without the CDC. We still need the CDC to be functioning at a higher level.
