new Cleveland blog: Helen Miller's Weight Loss Diary, or, “Here's How I Lost 47 lbs of Body Fat in Just 2 Months With These 2 FREE* Diet Products I Saw on T.V.”

I really can’t tell you how I stumbled across this new offering from Cleveland, but here it is, for your delectation, a new blog on the NEO scene as of April 8th:

Dear fellow weight-struggler,

Hi, I am Helen, and I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. I know there are many diet ads around that tell you their product really works. I just thought I would share my story with you in the hopes of inspiring you with a real example, and not just the lies that companies use. This is the true story of how I went from depressed and overweight to having an amazing body with the help of a few free weight loss products*.

  1. I saw this same story but it said she lived in Pittsboro, NC, right near me. I think the website figures out where you are and puts in a place near you. Seems like a marketing scam to get you to buy the products.

    4. I was skeptical when I saw "Helen" was from my little town of Riley, Kansas, population 800. What a coincidence! ;) Makes me mad that someone preys on people who are looking for an answer to weight loss and it's also on a website titled Rachael Ray's Diet Blog so it seems legit!

  2. There's also a lot of Cathy's teeth blog bullshit. Cathy made her teeth white with (two not really free products = SCAM SCAM SCAM )

They just advertise everywhere through google and then have it show that they're from 'your local city/town/area'. It's total crap.

  3. THEY ARE SO RIGHT, I JUST FELL FOR THE LINE FROM MY VERY SMALL TOWN IN TEXAS AND THEN I WENT TO HER BLOG AND NOW SHE IS FROM ANOTHER TOWN WITH THE SAME STORY - WORD BY WORD-JUST A DIFFERENT TOWN.....

  5. Once they're thin and svelte, I guess they can do what they want, with impunity, anywhere.

  6. Yeah It said that Helen Miller was from Germantown, OH which is where I live and it's such a small town, that everyone knows everyone and there is no Helen Miller that lives in Germantown.

  7. But perhaps she should. Reach out to her.

  8. I came across this same site stating that Helen Miller was from my town in Makawao, Hawaiii?? Now, I find the same story with her same name at several different sites?! This is definitely a scam to buy their products. You realy need to be careful!! As the saying goes there's no real EASY solution to loosing weight, but to do it by excercise and eating healthier.

  9. OMFG!!!! I'm pissed because I fell for this crap and thank goodness I just happen to pull this site up and find this out. I actually thought she was from my city which is Hampton, VA. I'm heated right now!

  10. Wow, I was actually really excited that Helen Miller was from Allen Texas...where I live...but after reading that she's from all around the world, I feel pretty dumb for believing it.

  13. Dido, My wife and I both came across her web site saying she live in our town of Orange CT. The thing that made me look into it more was we also found someone by the name of Kim Robins also from Orange CT selling the same stuff. The towns not that big so we did a web search and DIDO all the same crap!!!!!!!

  14. LOL Hello, Helen Miller, who seems to have relocated to Wendell, NC. Awesome! She's a stay at home mom. Maybe we can get together....after all, only 4,000 people live in this tiny town. I'm sure meeting for a playdate with the kids wouldn't be a big deal..... LOL

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey, I hate to start getting all paranoid, but you don't suppose Helen Miller's some sort of sicko, and is stalking all of us, do you?

    ReplyDelete
  16. If anyone reads the fine print on the bottom of the page it says:

This page and associated pages on this site are an advertisement.
All persons mentioned on this blog are fictional examples of people who used the promoted products and is for demonstration purposes only

    So.. case closed, haha

  17. nice article about weight loss. i mostly don't prefer dieting for weight loss. the best way to loss weight is, keeping out of fat and doing exercise.

  20. Yes-it happened to me!! What a horrible thing to do to people! There are numbers you can call to cancel your order(s). And for one of them there is an email address: billing@fwmlabs.com. Just state that you are canceling any future orders after the Free Trial Period and make sure you tell them what you ordered! (The Acai X3). Put your name and address so they know whos order to cancel. Hope this helps!

I am so mad about this! This is AWFUL!

    ReplyDelete
  21. It is a scam, they charge you for the full amount in less than 3 days of receiving your free trial. And the only way I could find their phone number to cancel was seeing it on my credit card bill after it was too late. I did call the card company immediately to block all charges, but the 1st was came in too soon. Thank goodness my credit card company is on my side and is taking care of the charge.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I guess Helen Miller relocated again to New Paltz, NY!!!! What a scam. I received about 4 calls from them and told them I wasn't giving my cc info over the phone, not to call me anymore...

    ReplyDelete
  23. The way the "Helen Miller" SCAM (yes, it is a SCAM) works is by looking at the IP address of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and doing a quick ISP-to-Location resolution. Than, the webpage is dynamic to insert the location into the text on the "server side" (where the actual source code resides) before displaying it on your computer screen (client side).

    Rather simple!

Don't fall for the "Helen Miller" lives in city X! It is a SCAM!!!

As for the diet? I have no comment, other than, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. ABC has adds on its site for helensdietstory.com which appears to be this same scam. It immediately made me suspicious when I ran into code attempting to stop me from exiting the site. There is a button to submit your own comment but it doesn't do anything but say your comment is submitted--I looked at the code and it discards everything you have entered.

Believe me transforming your body is a journey not a destination, it's being mindful everyday of what you put into it and how your everyday choices will effect you physically, and emotionally. Some good reads to nutrition would be: The Eat Clean Diet book by Tosca Reno, also Jillian Michaels has a great book Mastering your Metabolism...Remember train hard, focus on your goals, leave all excuses at the door. I am a single mom of a little boy, he also drives me to be healthy for him....To watch him grow and be there for all of the memories. So don't feel your being selfish by logging in extra gym hours, get helathy for yourself and your family!

  30. she is everywere!!! she said she was from west babylon, ny were i live. anyway i have a good diet for you all. its were u watch your carbs. at first you slow down your amount of carbs upto less tahn 50carbs a day, youl see results quickly if your a big carb eater. that means drinks too. but you can change it to fit ur life style. like i drink flavored water. ive lost 40 pounds in the matter of 4 months and my friend has lost more. running or going to the gym helps too of course. or you can do this diet were you watch wat you eat for almost two weeks and by that weekend u can eat less causely(not piggy tho) and do this over and over again, my daughters boyfriends dad did this and he has lost over 50 pounds or more scince than.

maybe combine the diets?? what ever works for you. just makesure your healthey and happy with your life. have fun being who you are and enjoy life! hope i helped you in some way. email me if u have more questions bout the diets. tailspin908@yahoo.com

  31. Yes this is totally a scam!!!! She was from NC on my page. I was scammed...unfortunately and I am still trying to get my money back. You never receive the "trial" of pills from AcaiX3 and then you receive the first months pills - after they have charged your card. No information or paperwork in the package so you have no clue it's a months supply and they have charged your card. I am currently trying to get my money back and I have contacted the BBB but have gotten no where. I am not giving up!!! If you have the same issue don't give up! This needs to stop!

  37. There are a lot of other products being marketed the same way. The one I fell for was the Rezveratrol(?) and something else. Both allow a ten-day sample for free, but you have to pay the postage. The ten days start on the date you order it - not the date you receive it. And to further complicate things, they intentially mislead you in to thinking think that you have a ten-day trial AMOUNT of the product, when, in fact, they are saying that you have ten days to cancel your automatic monthly order, which is always a different amount of $45 to $55+ and processed under different names on your credit card statement and from different areas in the U.S. They show the phone number on the credit card statement after each amount. Some are answered by a fictitious voice mail system, and you're never called back; and, one in particular, was a place to purchase tickets. Sadly, the products might actually be beneficial, but their marketing techniques are fraudulent. When ordering, I even checked "no" when asked if you'd like to have the products sent automatically to me each month. Thought that would take care of it, but at the end of the order, the confirmation didn't show that I had declined that option. Believe it or not, I got my money back, but it took a while. Same thing happened with Elite Healthcare, and I got my money back on that, too - after writing to the process attorney named in the corporate records at the Secretary of State's Office. I'm SO SICK of being ripped off.

  38. Dang the person who's behind the whole scam is very fucked up beacuse I had a baby and yea I lost like 10-12 pounds after his birth but still like 20 pounds over weight which puts me at 150 anyways after reading her "story" I got all happy that there was really something out there but no dumb people like to get your hopes up for no damn reason, and the funny thing is she said she was from Pecos, Tx. and no joke there is a Helen Miller who lives here but idk if it's her well lets just feel sorry for this person because "THEY HAVE NO FUCKING LIFE AND IF THEY DO IT'S FUCKING PATHETIC"....

    ReplyDelete
  39. who cares where she is from - does the diet work?? That's the main point of the article.

    ReplyDelete
  40. She also travel to Canada. On August 2th she lived in Québec,Québec.

    ReplyDelete
  41. First of all anyone that believes she lost 52 pounds in 2 months should have more common sense. This is not possible and anyone giving this fictitous person any orders for anything even if its free should think twice. Just the fact that she is faking where she lives should tell all of you how dishonest she is.

    ReplyDelete
  42. OMG! im so glad i saw this page, i was nearly sucked in! Helen Miller said she is in Brighton UK! some people really are sick, to get peoples hopes up like that. For many people, like myself, i suffer depression, and how i look contributes to this. so when i saw helens ad, i got excited for a moment. She should be six foot under!

  43. I am in Barrow, Alaska, the northern most city (?) in North America 350 miles north of the Arctic Circle and guess what? Helen Miller is also a mother here! She would probably look great jogging down the muddy street in her bikini being chased by a polar bear. Come on out of your house, Ms. Miller. I'll carry the 357 bear gun while you run.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Now Helen is in Newtownabbey Northern Ireland...she sure does get around!

  46. This is some site - the blog that is of Helen Miller. She shows up being from where ever you are. I am in Nampa Idaho and that is where Helen Miller is. Pretty good trick if they can make you believe it. But if they trick you that way, how else are they tricking you?
I looked at it trying to get information on whether it is something I want to offer on my site or at least offer an opinion on. I guess if I do it will not be a good opinion.
The marketing technique that is used always makes an impression on me as to the product.

  48. Honestly, I'm seconding the need to exercise common sense on this. While I hate it when other people exploit others, if they're not going to educate themselves, then they might deserve what they get.

Dropping 52 pounds in two months is not. Happening. Nor would it be at all healthy to, but let's break it down as to why it just won't work:

Losing 52 pounds in two months, or 8 weeks means that you would be losing 6.5 pounds per week, which roughly translates to losing a pound per day. There are 3000 calories to a pound. So, somehow, you'd have to burn 3000 per day, and that's not accounting for what you're eating, either.

Furthermore, you need to eat to burn fat. Food is to the metabolism like wood to a furnace; you need to use the former to keep the latter going strongly. Cutting out meals deprives the metabolism of the energy it needs to keep going. This is partly why weight loss is--and should be--a gradual thing. Say it with me: There are no quick (healthy) fixes. I'm not a nutritionist or personal trainer, I just do a lot of research, and really, more people should. Be proactive, exercise reason, and get educated. You only have one body, you owe it to yourself to do the best you can for it.

When I tried to order the free products and was asked for my credit card information, I changed my mind and did not give out my numbers. Then when I tried to get back to her sight so I could get the names of the products and find them in a store, I came across this sight. Thank you for starting this websight and opening my eyes before I made a big mistake!

  54. Helen tells me she's from Greenville, SC. I tried typing the address into two proxy services and it came up with two other cities where those proxy servers reside. Very deceitful tactic.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hey...Helen Miller lives about 15 minutes from my house too! It just so happens to be the city where my cable provider's head end is! Hmmmm...how convenient! I had put in my info on the 1st page and then I read the 30 day Guarantee on the 2nd page and closed out. It said right there that they would auto-renew your supply and that you had to call some international phone number to get out of it.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

  56. Acai berries as endorsed by the mysterious Helen Miller are a 'superfood' but remember, they are just this year's blueberries. Whether Helen exists or not, you don't need the pills or the colon cleansers to lose weight. Just switch to any diet where berries and other fruits and veg with natural nutrients feature heavily. Cut out the cake, the beer and the fatty dairy, and walk briskly an extra 30 minutes a day. VOILA! You'll be a Helen clone!

  57. As a regular commenter on sites I noticed my first warning, all the comments on her page have no dates or times Hmm. Lucky I didn't read all the bullshit first and just skimmed to the bottom. Helen claimed to be from Sydney Australia, (near me) however we don't measure in pounds instead Kg, we drink soft drink not soda and I love my mum not my mom: dead ringer for a scam.

Today they are Terms and Conditions so now I know what I 'signed up to', although as the Terms and Conditions weren't actually on the website at the time (they weren't there last week), I don't know how I was expected to know.

I'm one of the lucky ones that didn't order these "miracle" diet tools, but I must say I was very tempted to & almost did! Then I just had a feeling it might be too good to be true (which it definitely is!!!) & googled her infamous & well-travelled name "Helen Miller" & "voila" - my eyes were opened to this greedy, money-making scam! From now on, I'll go straight to google everything before I make any decisions - googling worked & helped me right away thanks to all you people who posted your comments about it being a scam! You just can't trust anything nowadays! How sad!

They attacked my credit card with several attemts to take out unauthorized payments...thank God, my bank blocked my card(I had protection)... Be very careful, PLEASE!

  94. In desperation to lose weight, people will try anything to lose weight. This article is playing on people's need to get thin quick, lose weight and be happier for life. Yeah, right!

Thank you, tim ferris.blogspot.com for pointing this out before more people buy into the scam.

  95. I signed up for the free sample of the leanspa and colothin, but I had to pay for shipping and handeling for the both of them. (leanspa) I ordered it on January 31st, and they claim that I recieved it on the 7th of Feburary. I have never recieved anything from them. They do not want to help me in anyway shape or form to see what happened with it. I originally called them to see what was going on. I had to wait 45minutes once I got through somehow on my 4th time trying to reach someone from the customer center. I did cancel any further subscriptions from leanspa. I'm very disapointed in them for the false advertising! I guess I have learned from my mistake. As for the colothin I recieved it about 2days after I ordered it. I canceled that as well within the date they tell you that you have. I hope that they are not any future charges to my account, otherwise they will have one mad lady on their case!

  96. Mine said Helen Miller was from Greenville, NC where I am from... what the heck?????

    ReplyDelete
  97. Here I am, 2 years from when you first posted this... Helen Miller is really from MY hometown (Wink wink) That's actually what made me look into it because I was like psssshaw, whatever:) They shouldn't be allowed to advertise like that.

  98. whatever happened to freedom of speech you fucking faggot piece of shit!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. CNA, I guess freedom of speech also includes freedom to lie. You're also free to use the language and sentiments you just did; you have to realize that when you do dumb stuff like that, that you may not be totally anonymous or immune, and you leave yourself open to consequences.

  100. No, No, She is from Goodyear, Az. I saw this same ad last night. I live in Goodyear, AZ and thought WOW maybe we are neighbors, I'll look her up and see if it is really true... Of course not, apparently we are all being "Scammed".... What is happening to society???

  101. Hey Tim, Check out Sobelabs for us. They hit my card for $74.95 before my "trial" period was even up for their "anti-wrinkle" lotion. I paid S&H of $3.95 for the "FREE TRIAL" and before you could even get a good feeling or not, for their product I found this charge on my Card. Now I can't get them reverse it, even though I returned the unused product after 2 weeks... I am a senior on SSI and can't afford this. I have learned my lesson...

  103. Our town is only 1300 people, but of course, Helen is from here!! (Trempealeau, WI) Heard of it? Helen probably hasn't either!

    ReplyDelete
  104. The worst part is that today, she is advertising it along with it linking to a Rachel Ray. com site to make you think it is ligit. Guess what - she now lives in Carpentersville, IL - yep she's my neighbor now... Boy this girl gets around - no wonder she is so slim!

    ReplyDelete
  105. ...can't remember where Helen hails from tonight, but she found her latest overweight victim in ALABAMA!!!! That would be ME!!!! Does anyone tell the truth anymore? Well, of course, YOU GUYS DO...MY NEWLY DISCOVERED BFFs!!! And I thought my new cliche was now Helen Miller and Rachel Ray! WOW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I've been looking around, and I have found CAROLINE, who happens to live in BUTLER, ALABAMA (funny, I've been in this Small Town, USA since 2004, and I've never heard of or run into THIS Caroline...though I have taught in BOTH elementary schools here!). It's AMAZING that the photo of CAROLINE, WHO HAS LOST WEIGHT WITH ACAI BERRY AND QUICK DETOX, has the SAME FACE as one of the women who COMMENTED on HELEN MILLER'S BLOG saying SHE had JUST ordered HELEN'S RECOMMENDED SUPPLEMENTS and was hoping to lose weight with THEM, yet she has a little sight of her OWN where she's ALREADY LOST WEIGHT...SCAM? REALLY? YA' THINK? C'MON Y'ALL...I'M JUST A LIL OLE SOUTHERN GIRL, BUT COULD THEY ALL BE IN THIS TOGETHER??? :( At least I'm in GOOD COMPANY WITH MY NEW BDFF'S (that's Best DUPED Friends Forever!)!

  107. BTW (that's BY THE WAY :) HERE'S CAROLINES LINK!!! http://www.doesacaiberryreallywork.com/

    ReplyDelete
  108. http://www.acaiberry-coloncleanse.net/ ... AND THIS is the link where you can see CAROLINE posing as LAURA, MOTHER OF 5, in HELEN'S COMMENT SECTION... These lady's DO get AROUND...

    ReplyDelete
  109. FOLLOWING IS A PORTION OF THE DISCLAIMER AT THE BOTTOM OF LAURA'S SITE...BUT THE BACKGROUND IS BLACK! THE WRITING IS ALMOST THE SAME COLOR AS THE BACKGRROUND AND IS SO SMALL I NEEDED A MAGNIFYING GLASS TO READ IT!!! (Wish I'd gotten that magnifying glass out before I order that mess!!!!)...

  113. Sounds like you're doing OK. What about attorneys general in her state and your state, as well as government consumer protection offices. Heck, the President now has some kind of consumer protectoror he's trying to appoint. Give the White House a call.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Yep - she is from my town too. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  115. WOW this is crazy! I almost fell for it and her saying she lived in a very small town near me almost sealed the deal. Thanks to a friend of mine that did research and told me it was a scam...Bottom line is...if it sounds to go to be true ...IT IS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Yes, I fell for this Helen Miller ad. She said she lived in Dubuque Ia. She really gets around...the world that is. Now she's using Rachel Ray to back up her story. I got the stuff but I hope they havn't charged anything more to it! I'd like to stuff these pills down someone's throat--not mine.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Does anyone know how to block the charges or cancel the shipment? ..I'm a dumb 18 year old, desperate to loose weight and after filling in all my credit card information, stumbled upon this page.. :/

  119. According to a Facebook page with the same picture she uses in her scam, she's from Grand Rapids, MI and works for Sarah Lee Deli. It says she's "single" - no 2 boys and no husband (like in the scam letter she sends out). More than likely, the Facebook page is bogus, too. I've learned that when more than 1 person is selling the same thing with the same pitch, it's all fraudulent. I feel sorry that so many of you ordered this stuff. Thank God I didn't. No one wants to be overweight and this is what make these people "predators."

  120. BLOCK CREDIT CARD CHARGES: If you credit card is held with a bank, report the "unauthorized charges" to the bank. If it's with a credit card company such as Chase, call your credit card company and ask for the FRAUD department. They should remove the charges for you and they'll either "red flag" the company so that they can't charge anything else or they'll close your account and reissue you a card with a new number. Yes, it's a pain in the butt, but it will stop it. If you have copies of ANY emails you've sent this company telling them to stop charging you, send the copies (or offer to send them to the bank/cr. card company when you call them. Good luck!

  121. Wow,she is from Niles, Illinois as well! Too funny. Well I hope you all have some way to get your money back. It makes me sick that these companies try to lure people into buying their products with this type of trick.

  122. I just saw the same ad, but Helen was from Gainesville, Ga. That girl gets around!!! And loses weight where ever she goes. She must be in negative digits on the scale by now!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I just saw that Helen Miller was from Alma, AR so I decided to look her up.

To my surprise, I don't think there is 'ANYWHERE' she is NOT FROM!!

  125. VERY SAD! Saw the add on the side of Fcbk it's now 2011 (posts date back as far as April 2009 as far as I can tell) and she's still posting addds! I knew from the moment I saw it, it wasn't real for 2 reasons 1.She said she was from Hospers Iowa... I live in Hospers if you blink you'll miss main street and this women DOES NOT LIVE HERE!! EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE!! ALL 7- maybe MAYBE 800 ppl!!! 2.I just busted my butt to lose 107 lbs over the course of 2 years! 2 YEARS!!! If there was a way to lose it faster than watching what you putin your mouth and working VERY, VERY HARD... Take my word for it I'd of found it in the past yrs!!!

  129. I can't believe this is still going on after all this time. Yes, I was a sucker also. It is funny though. Each time I look at the site it changes her location to another small town - all near each other. I cancelled my future shipments due to illness and am so thankful I did. I have only now realized it is a scam. Ole Helen really gets around, doesn't she?

  131. LOL get this, I went back to the site and read the 'wonderful' comments from actual 'people', and tried posting one myself, SURPRISE they said it was 'under review,' and has not been posted yet....Shame on you Helen MIller!

  132. after you buy the product (get free trial), the fine print at the bottom says your card will be charged 129.99 plus 9.99 s/h every month unless you cancel within 16 days...be careful.

  133. I knew right away that she was not from the town she said she was. It states "I am from Langley, Canada". Anyone that lives in Canada does not say they are from Langley, Canada or Toronto, Canada, they would say Langley, B.C. or Toronto, ON.

Too bad it is a scam, I really need to loose the belly fat and I hate the gym and diets. I guess the only thing that is proven to work is not only proper diet and regular exercise, but Tummy tucks and lipo!! (all though that fat can return)

    ReplyDelete
  134. She is now from Harlingen, TX

    ReplyDelete
  135. This gal gets around. She is now from Grand Meadow, MN, a town of less than 1,000 where "everybody knows your name" but nobody knows hers! How gullible people are that this kind of crap continues to circulate!
